In a recently released study from the National PTA and Edge Research, parents reported that they feel alone in their fears and struggles with their children’s tech habits, but also that they don’t know how to talk to fellow parents about the topic.

Devorah Heitner, PhD, author of Screenwise, shares some tips in this online article. Her tips include what to do when your child’s friend:

  • unexpectedly starts following or messaging your adult account on social media.
  • engages in some concerning online behavior, like posting information or photos that make you uncomfortable.
  • impersonates someone else or pretends to be an identity different from who they really are online.
