Parents are always thinking about how they can help their kids and teens use technology in a way that promotes well being. To celebrate Safer Internet Day, ConnectSafely partnered with National PTA to create a 1 hour conversation that includes crucial, but easy-to-implement, tips to help you be a better parent and help your teen live a safer online life.

You can watch the webinar or listen to a podcast version while working out or while in the car while driving your kids to all their activities. Some of the helpful informative tips include:

  • Financial scams that target teens, including the role AI plays in making them more convincing
  • How algorithms shape what teens see based on factors like age and gender, and how to explain this to young people
  • How to talk about extremist content and difficult news
  • Safety information for gamers using in-game chats or DMs
  • How parents can support their child if someone shares their photo without consent

These real situations happen to our kids every day and this 1 hour listen will equip you with preventative knowledge and approaches. That’s what Safer Internet Day is all about: The goal is to promote a safer, better internet, one where everyone is empowered to use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. It’s not just about avoiding harm; it’s about understanding how the internet shapes our lives and recognizing our shared responsibility in shaping it for good.
