There is a lot of news about TikTok and the legislation that would require the company to change ownership. The legislation gives TikTok one year to find a U.S. buyer, so the app isn’t going away anytime soon. It’s important to keep ourselves informed about how to keep our families safer when using it.

TikTok’s popularity: According to recent data from Pew

  • 33% of all US adults use TikTok, and 62% of U.S. adults ages 18-25 use TikTok
  • 63% of teens ages 13-17 use TikTok, 58% of those teens use it daily, and 17% of those teens say they’re on it “almost constantly”

Learn about safer ways to use TikTok from ConnectSafely:

  • There are different privacy settings and app experiences for users under 13, ages 13-15, and ages 16+
  • Family Pairing is available to set up for parents of teens to help guide their use of the app
